Forum - My Windows XP has been CRACKERED!

0
In other words: I have stupidly updated Windows XP and now as soon as I log on I get a blue background and then I get logged off again.

My copy isn't illegal - its just been used twice (once already on another computer) - which is basically using an illegal copy I think.

Can I fix this without having to completely re-install XP? (I'm using Vista as a dual bootnow). I don't want to lose everything on my XP partition.

was xp working at one point? what did you do before it stopped working?

if you have vista installed as a dual boot you should be able to access the files on the xp partition

Yes it was working up until I updated it using the Windows Update program.

there really isnt anything else you could do.

There must have been a registry file sent to your computer during the update, Microsoft saw the red flag, and must have invalidated your copy.

So what? I have to delete the whole partition and re-install everything again?

You could try a repair installation.

Right I know a few people that have done this, Microsoft are Greedy gits! All they care about is money they expect you too fork out £200 a piece for each pc which is a rip off!! anyways erm right if you can access your xp partition and install "Tweak Manager" just use the trial then if you click windows an option comes up on the right saying "Use windows update without registration" activate this so that the circle next to it is green! Link for tweak manager is http://www.pctools.com/tweak-manager/ I hope this sorts out your problem because i know how frustrating it can be to lose a partition!

Lol, that doesnt mean its been crackered. Microsoft doesn't launch harmful stuff just because you have a cracked version of windows XP. Instead they offer you a chance to buy a valid copy and key.

About the BoD that you get, it's a file conflict or the fact that you have a faulty system file. Try restoring your windows xp and/or do a check disk or scan disk that will REPAIR any broken files or sectors. Best of luck.

I've used my Windows XP CD quite a few times, but as far as I know, it's only been on 2 PCs in my home (which have been reformatted/upgraded/etc often).

You *should* have been fine, but who knows... maybe Microsoft released something new and nasty?
